Contacts notes field limited to 1000 characters Android

This issue pertains to the Samsung Galaxy SII Epic 4G Touch from Sprint.

Android version: 2.3.6
Baseband version: S:D710.10.S.EK02
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-SPH-D710-EK02-CL704398
Build number:  GINERBREAD.EK02
Hardware version:  D710.10

When using Microsoft Exchange you cannot enter more than 1000 characters in the notes field of a Contact record on the Samsung Galaxy SII Epic 4G. You can edit the contact in Outlook, add additional text to the notes field and it will push down to the phone.

Called  Samsung technical support and they said that this is the way the phone is designed. The first time I called they said it was a android limitation. I then went to the Sprint store and performed the same test using the Motorola Photon and one of the HTC phones and had no trouble going pass 1000 characters on the notes field.

I then called Samsung again and there technical support department is now saying that this is the way the phone is designed. I explained to them that this made no sense since additional text can be added using Outlook and pushed down to the phone, if it was a technical limitation like memory, the phone would of simply truncate the data in the notes field.

The only workaround to this issue, is to add dashes or some other character at the beginning of the contact and delete some when you need to add additional text.

Any way I reported the issue to Samsung and hopefully, they will fix it some day.
