Once you’ve completed the process of gettting a Google Voice account and phone number, configuring Google Voice on a Sprint Android phone can be tricky. You may find that google voice has taken over all incoming and outgoing phone calls.
If this occurs you need to uninstall google voice from the phone, then login to your google voice account and do the following:
1. Click on the gear box on the upper right hand side of the screen (Settings)
2. Click on the Calls tab and set Call Screening Off
3. There is an option in the Phones tab that needs to be changed as well.
Once this is done, download Google Voice from the Market
1. In the Welcome to Google Voice screen, select Skip (To skip the Sprint Integration)
2. Select or enter your Google Voice login info and click Sign In
3. Click Next
4. We wanted to Only use Google Voice for international calls, so we selected that option
5. On the Set up voicemail screen, we selected Skip
And that’s all there is to it. All domestic calls will go thru sprint and any international calls will use google voice’s excellent international rates.
