We've used this method to create a bootable flash drive. Not all flash drive can work as a bootable device. We used a Crucial Gizmo 2GB Flash Drive and formatted under Windows XP.
The Dell 32 Bit Diagnostics will create a bootable USB Flash Drive, however the drive must be 2GB or smaller.
It can be downloade here: ftp://ftp.us.dell.com/diags/DELL_32-BIT-DIAGNOSTICS_5130-1_R242199.exe
Once downloaded double click the file to run the program and the following screen will be displayed:
Eject the USB Flash drive an reinsert it so the files can appear.
Once it's done you can copy your files to the USB flash drive to make them available after booting from the device.
Change the Boot Order in your BIOS by making the USB Flash drive the 1st device in the boot order, or if your computer allows press the function key that allows you to select the Boot device.
Once booted from the USB Flash Drive, your files will be located on C:
